Brighton & Hove Albion have announced ambitious plans to build the UK and Europe’s first purpose-built stadium dedicated exclusively to women’s football, marking a major milestone for the women’s game.
The proposed 10,000-capacity stadium will be constructed next to the club’s existing Amex Stadium, subject to planning approval. The club aims to open the venue in time for the 2030/31 season.
Described as “built for her,†the stadium will be specifically designed for the needs of the women’s team, staff, and supporters. It will feature tailored performance facilities, modern fan experiences, and infrastructure designed around female athletes rather than being adapted from a men’s stadium.
The project is part of Brighton’s long-term 2030 vision and reflects significant backing from owner Tony Bloom. The stadium site has already been secured, and early design work is underway.
Club officials say the venue will be directly connected to the Amex Stadium via a bridge and will include underground parking due to the site’s terrain. It will also support academy fixtures and development pathways for younger players.
Brighton Women’s managing director Zoe Johnson described the project as a landmark moment for global women’s football, highlighting its potential to enhance competitiveness, fan engagement, and talent recruitment.
Chairman Tony Bloom said the stadium is essential for the continued growth of the women’s team and will help attract elite players while strengthening the club’s supporter base.
The club believes the stadium could become one of only three of its kind globally, positioning Brighton as a leader in the development of women’s football infrastructure.
