FC Union Berlin has reached a key milestone in the construction of its €40 million training centre at Alte Försterei, a project that will bring the club’s men’s and women’s professional teams together under one roof.
Scheduled for completion later this year, the facility spans 4,100 square metres across three floors and is built around a principle of equal access. Both teams will operate under identical conditions, reflecting a structural commitment to parity within the club.
The complex will feature modern locker rooms, recovery areas including ice baths and saunas, physiotherapy and fitness facilities, as well as offices and meeting spaces. Training operations will be supported by four pitches, including two full-size fields.
One of the project’s standout elements is a natural grass pitch constructed on top of a parking structure, combining efficient land use with high-performance requirements.
By centralising operations, Union Berlin aims to enhance performance, streamline operations and strengthen long-term talent development. The integration of men’s and women’s teams also signals a broader commitment to advancing the women’s game.
Club president Dirk Zingler emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that the club is creating a new model in German professional football where both teams train and operate under the same conditions.
