Messi effect: UE Cornellà secures major sponsorship deal

UE Cornellà, a Spanish club competing in the fifth tier of football (Tercera RFEF), has signed a significant two-season sponsorship agreement with Spanish fintech bank MyInvestor, marking one of its most important commercial deals to date.

The agreement reportedly includes front-of-shirt branding, stadium advertising rights, and joint community initiatives focused on financial education. MyInvestor, backed by Andbank, AXA Spain, and El Corte Inglés’ insurance division, is considered one of Spain’s leading fintech brands in terms of business volume.

The deal comes shortly after Lionel Messi’s arrival as a club owner was officially confirmed, an investment that has already begun to generate commercial impact off the pitch. According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, the presence of the Argentine superstar has significantly increased the club’s visibility among sponsors and media partners.

Operating in the lower tiers of Spanish football, UE Cornellà has traditionally been known for its strong youth development structure in the Baix Llobregat region of Catalonia. However, the club now appears to be entering a new phase of institutional growth, leveraging Messi’s global profile to attract higher-level commercial partnerships.

The agreement highlights how high-profile ownership in football can rapidly transform the commercial profile of even lower-league clubs, creating opportunities that extend far beyond sporting performance.
