FC Barcelona is expanding its commercial business beyond football, with members approving two long-term agreements designed to generate new revenue from the club’s global brand and Spotify Camp Nou.
The first agreement covers the development of a luxury residential complex in the United Arab Emirates in partnership with Ohana Real Estate and Construction LLC. The project will combine residences, retail and entertainment facilities built around the Barcelona brand.
The proposal was approved by 308 delegates, with 103 voting against and 32 casting blank votes, from a quorum of 433 delegates. The agreement allows the exploitation of the Barça brand within the project through 2055, with completion scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2030.
As part of the partnership, the project’s name will feature on the back of both the men’s and women’s first-team shirts from next season through to the 2029-30 campaign. The agreement also includes advertising visibility at Spotify Camp Nou and access to players for commercial activations.
Barcelona vice-president for the economic area Ferran Olivé described the deal as “the best contract in Europe”, although the club has not disclosed its financial value.
A €100m entertainment business at Camp Nou
The second agreement involves Babylon Park Spain and will see the launch of an FC Barcelona-themed Indoor Family Entertainment Center at Spotify Camp Nou.
The 25-year licensing agreement will allow Babylon Park to use the Barça brand for the project, with the potential to develop additional Barcelona-branded entertainment centres in other locations.
Barcelona expects to generate around €100m over the lifetime of the agreement. The club will receive 50% of project revenues, although its share will be set at 20% during the first five years. A minimum annual revenue of €1m for Barcelona has also been established for the first five years.
The project represents another step in Barcelona’s strategy to increase the commercial use of Spotify Camp Nou, adding entertainment and consumer experiences to the stadium’s traditional sporting and event activity.
Barcelona targets €1.45bn in revenue
The new agreements form part of Barcelona’s broader strategy to diversify its revenue streams and increase the commercial value of its global brand.
The club is projecting revenue of €1.45bn for the 2030-31 financial year, while EBITDA could reach as much as €370m within five years.
By expanding into branded residential real estate and family entertainment, Barcelona is seeking to turn its brand and stadium assets into additional long-term commercial businesses beyond matchday and traditional sponsorship income.
