INEOS puts Lausanne-Sport up for sale as Ratcliffe refocuses on Manchester United

INEOS is looking to sell Swiss Super League club Lausanne-Sport as Jim Ratcliffe continues to scale back his group’s involvement across the sports sector, according to The Athletic.

The move comes after INEOS put Ligue 1 side OGC Nice on the market in May 2025, reportedly valuing the club at €250 million. Eighteen months later, Nice remains part of INEOS’ sports portfolio, with the group’s decision to sell linked to uncertainty surrounding French football’s broadcasting revenues and the club’s recurring losses.

Lausanne-Sport is also expected to record a loss of around €6 million for the current season. However, its financial deficit remains below that of Nice, partly due to the tighter budgetary environment of the Swiss Super League.

The potential sale of Lausanne-Sport is part of a broader retrenchment by INEOS in sports. In recent years, the group has ended sponsorship agreements with Tottenham Hotspur and the New Zealand All Blacks, while also withdrawing financial support from the British America’s Cup sailing project.

Ratcliffe’s sports investments are increasingly centred on Manchester United. The British businessman holds a 29% stake in the Premier League club after investing around €1.5 billion, including approximately €270 million injected directly into the club.

The latest moves suggest a significant shift in INEOS’ multi-sport strategy, with Ratcliffe appearing to focus resources on Manchester United while reducing exposure to other sports properties and projects.
