Sportradar has announced a significant multi-year extension of its partnership with NBC Sports Regional Networks (RSNs). The deal, covering the 2025-26 and 2026-27 NBA seasons, focuses on integrating advanced AI-driven storytelling tools into hundreds of live regional broadcasts across the United States.

The GameFrame Revolution

The centerpiece of this collaboration is GameFrame, Sportradar’s cutting-edge AI solution. This technology marks a shift from static stats to dynamic, visual storytelling:

  • Real-Time 3D Visuals: Transforms optical tracking data into 3D animations and realistic player avatars within seconds.
  • Enhanced Shot Charts: Beyond simple “made/missed” dots, these charts now show player movement and positioning leading up to the shot.
  • On-Air Support: Provides analysts and play-by-play talent with instant visual aids to explain complex defensive schemes or spacing errors as they happen.
  • Low Latency: Renders animations fast enough to be used immediately following a timeout or during halftime breaks.

Strategic Reach: From Bay Area to Boston

The agreement supports a vast portfolio of regional networks, ensuring fans of local teams receive “national-level” production quality. Key RSNs included in the deal are:

  • NBC Sports Bay Area (Warriors)
  • NBC Sports Boston (Celtics)
  • NBC Sports Philadelphia (76ers)
  • NBC Sports California (Kings)

Corporate Synergy and Revenue

This expansion builds on previous successful “alternative casts” (like the Performance View on Peacock). Beyond fan engagement, Sportradar VP Brian Josephs noted that these AI-generated graphics also serve as sponsorable assets, providing new revenue streams for NBC by placing brand logos alongside high-tech data overlays.

“Sportradar is helping deliver the data-driven tools that bring greater clarity and context to live games, creating more engaging NBA viewing experiences for fans.” — Brian Josephs, VP, The Americas, Sportradar.
