AC Milan has officially appointed Massimo Calvelli as the club’s new chief executive officer. Until now, he served as CEO International of RedBird Development Group and operating partner at RedBird Capital Partners, roles he will continue to hold alongside his new position at the Italian club after spending a year working closely within the organization.
A former ATP world No. 255 player, Calvelli brings an unusual background to European football executive roles. Before joining RedBird, he served as CEO of the ATP from 2020 to 2025, where he oversaw a major transformation of the men’s professional tennis circuit.
He has also held senior international leadership roles at Nike, Wilson Sporting Goods, and Amer Sports. Prior to his executive career, he was a professional tennis player.
Gerry Cardinale, founder of RedBird Capital Partners, said this type of appointment reflects the firm’s model of placing senior executives directly into key assets within its portfolio.
Calvelli will work closely with new head coach Rúben Amorim, whose integration into the club is already underway according to the official statement.
