FC Barcelona has taken a step into the second-hand retail space, investing in circular economy startup Drelife through its innovation arm, Barça Innovation Hub.
The deal also involves Barça Licensing & Merchandising (BLM), positioning the club as an early mover among elite teams in integrating resale into its official commercial ecosystem. Rather than relying on external marketplaces, the initiative aims to bring second-life products under the club’s direct retail control, ensuring standards around authenticity, quality, and service.
The investment aligns with Barça’s broader strategy of backing technology-driven companies capable of reshaping the sports industry. Beyond capital, the club offers portfolio startups access to its global audience, operational expertise, and commercial infrastructure.
For Barcelona, the move opens a new revenue stream built on existing merchandise while reinforcing fan engagement through more accessible price points and sustainable consumption models. It also reflects a wider shift in sports retail, where lifecycle value and circularity are becoming increasingly relevant.
Drelife now becomes the 15th startup backed by Barça Innovation Hub, joining a portfolio focused on performance, data, fan engagement, and digital transformation.
