Basketball World Cups awarded to Japan and France

The FIBA has confirmed the hosts for its next flagship global tournaments, awarding the 2030 Women’s Basketball World Cup to Japan and the 2031 Men’s Basketball World Cup to France.

The decisions reflect FIBA’s continued strategy of rotating major events across established basketball markets with strong infrastructure and fan bases.

Japan will stage the women’s tournament for the second time in its history, while France will host the men’s World Cup, further strengthening its position as a key hub for international basketball following recent success with global sporting events.

Both awards underline the sport’s expanding global footprint and FIBA’s push to grow visibility for both the men’s and women’s game through major event distribution across continents.
