Benfica and adidas have extended one of Portuguese football’s longest-running commercial partnerships through 2033, in a deal reportedly worth around €120 million.
The six-year extension is understood to be the largest sponsorship agreement in Portuguese football history, although neither Benfica nor adidas has officially disclosed the financial terms.
The agreement goes beyond the traditional kit supplier relationship, with adidas securing naming rights to Benfica’s training and development centre. The facility will be renamed the adidas Benfica Campus, adding a significant branding component to the long-term partnership.
adidas adds academy naming rights
The new agreement covers Benfica’s ongoing kit supply arrangement while expanding adidas’ presence across the club’s wider football ecosystem.
The adidas Benfica Campus is a key part of Benfica’s player development structure and will become an additional commercial asset for the sportswear brand under the extended partnership.
The announcement coincides with the launch of Benfica’s 2026/27 kits. The club’s new home and third shirts reference the Campus, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
adidas has supplied Benfica’s kits continuously since the 1997/98 season, following an earlier partnership between the two sides from 1983/84 to 1989/90.

Deal extends beyond shirt visibility
The expansion reflects the broader evolution of major football sponsorships, with brands increasingly seeking assets beyond traditional shirt and equipment exposure.
For adidas, the Benfica agreement now combines kit rights with a long-term association with the club’s talent development infrastructure, providing visibility across both the first-team and academy environment.
Benfica president Rui Costa said the naming rights agreement further strengthens the relationship and highlighted the strategic importance of the training centre to the club’s future.
“adidas has been present for some of the most significant moments in the history of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, and we are delighted to begin a new chapter in this collaboration,” Costa said.
“The naming of the adidas Benfica Campus further strengthens this connection and recognizes the strategic importance of a space that is fundamental to the Club’s present and future.”
