CAF launches tender for AFCON 2027 host broadcast partner

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially begun the search for the host broadcast partner for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), opening a competitive tender process for one of the continent’s flagship sporting events.

The selected company will be responsible for producing the international television feed for the 24-team tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, and distributed to CAF’s global network of licensed broadcasters.

The request for proposals (RFP) was launched on August 3, with interested companies required to submit bids by September 2 at 17:00 Cairo time. CAF will accept questions regarding the tender until August 23.

CAF said it is seeking experienced and reputable broadcast service providers with the technical expertise and operational capabilities needed to deliver world-class host broadcasting services throughout the tournament.

The 2027 edition will also mark a significant milestone for African football. Beginning after the tournament, AFCON will transition from a biennial competition to a four-year cycle, increasing the tournament’s exclusivity and commercial value.

The broadcast tender comes as CAF accelerates its broader commercial strategy. In late July, the organization also launched a separate tender to appoint a commercial agency to manage the global broadcast, media and sponsorship rights for the 2028, 2032 and 2036 AFCON tournaments, with submissions due on August 24.

Together, the two procurement processes represent a major step in strengthening the commercial foundations of African football and enhancing the global production, distribution and monetization of its premier national team competition.
