The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has secured a series of broadcast agreements with major media companies for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which is being held in Morocco.
The deals were announced just one day before the tournament began and cover several key international markets.
beIN Sports will broadcast the tournament across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), while Canal Plus and Ziggo will cover French-speaking African territories. SuperSport has secured rights across Sub-Saharan Africa, DAZN will broadcast the tournament in the DACH region — Germany, Austria and Switzerland — and Channel 4 will show the competition in the United Kingdom.
The agreement with Channel 4 marks the first time that the WAFCON will be broadcast live in the UK.
More than 18 free-to-air broadcasters involved
CAF’s list of broadcast partners also includes SNRT in host nation Morocco, SABC in South Africa, Azam Media in parts of East Africa and BBC Radio across several Sub-Saharan African territories.
More than 18 free-to-air broadcasters will also show the tournament, including KBC in Kenya, AfroSport in Nigeria, MaxTV in Ghana, RTi in Côte d’Ivoire, RTCV in Cape Verde, ZNBC in Zambia and RTB in Burkina Faso.
Expanded 16-team tournament underway
The expanded 16-team edition of the WAFCON began with Algeria defeating Senegal 2-0. Hosts Morocco then opened their campaign with a 4-0 victory over Kenya.
The final is scheduled to take place on August 16.
CAF postponed the tournament just 12 days before its original start date, citing “unforeseen circumstances.” The competition had initially been scheduled to take place from March 17 to April 3, but was pushed back by four months.
Morocco is hosting the WAFCON for the third consecutive edition, having also staged the 2022 and 2024 tournaments. The country also hosted the men’s Africa Cup of Nations across December 2025 and January 2026.
