Champions League delivers £127m windfall for PSG as Arsenal set English revenue record

Winning a second consecutive UEFA Champions League title has earned Paris Saint-Germain an estimated €146 million in prize money, underlining the growing financial rewards available in European football’s premier club competition.

After defeating Arsenal FC in a penalty shootout in Budapest, PSG added another €6.5 million to its earnings, taking its total Champions League revenue for the season to approximately €146 million.

The French champions are also set to receive additional income from the UEFA Super Cup, where they will face Aston Villa FC in Salzburg this August.

Arsenal records highest UEFA income ever earned by an English club

Despite losing the final, Arsenal enjoyed a historic financial campaign. The club is projected to receive around €143 million from UEFA competitions, the highest amount ever earned by an English club in European football.

Combined with the revenue generated from winning the Premier League title, Arsenal is expected to post record-breaking broadcast and competition earnings for the season.

UEFA distributes more than €2.4 billion to participating clubs

A total of €2.428 billion was shared among the 36 clubs competing in this season’s Champions League, while a further €30 million was allocated to teams eliminated in the qualifying play-off round.

Under UEFA’s current distribution system, €905 million was awarded based on sporting performance, while €853 million was distributed through the competition’s “value pillar”, which takes into account historical European success, club coefficients and national broadcast market values.

English clubs receive the largest share of prize money

The six English representatives — Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC, Manchester City FC, Newcastle United FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC — collected a combined €591.5 million.

That figure represents 24.1 per cent of the total prize pool, the highest proportion ever received by clubs from a single country in Champions League history.

Europe’s wealthiest clubs continue to pull away

Alongside PSG and Arsenal, four other clubs surpassed €100 million in UEFA earnings this season: FC Bayern Munich, Liverpool FC, Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid CF.

The figures highlight how the Champions League continues to strengthen the financial position of Europe’s elite clubs. PSG’s latest title not only secured another trophy for the club but also reinforced the immense economic value of success on the continent’s biggest stage.
