Chiliz and Persija Jakarta Launch Fan Token

Chiliz Group has officially confirmed a strategic partnership with Persija Jakarta to launch an official Fan Token, marking a significant expansion into the high-potential Southeast Asian market.

By bringing one of Indonesia’s most storied clubs into the Chiliz ecosystem, the blockchain provider aims to tap into a massive digital frontier. Indonesia alone boasts an estimated 200 million football fans, making it a primary battleground for next-generation fan engagement strategies.

Empowering “The Jakmania”

The upcoming Persija Fan Token is designed to bridge the gap between the club and its legendary supporter base, known as The Jakmania. Holders of the token will gain access to:

  • Voting Rights: Influence selected club decisions through official polls.
  • Exclusive Content: Access to behind-the-scenes footage and digital collectibles.
  • VIP Experiences: Opportunities for real-world rewards and matchday perks.

“We’re welcoming one of Southeast Asia’s most iconic football clubs at a time when the demand for real utility has never been higher,” said Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chiliz and Socios.com. “Persija’s incredible supporter base is exactly what Fan Tokens were built for—giving fans a real voice in their club’s journey.”

A Global Vision for a Local Icon

Persija Jakarta President Mohamad Prapanca emphasized that the partnership is about scaling the club’s reach beyond the borders of Indonesia. “The Jakmania are among the most passionate supporters in world football. This partnership gives us new ways to engage with them—not just in Jakarta, but around the globe,” Prapanca stated.

Persija joins an elite list of Southeast Asian clubs already integrated into the Chiliz network, including Persib Bandung, Bali United, and Johor Darul Ta’zim.

Navigating the Regulatory Landscape

While the expansion marks a growth milestone, the industry continues to navigate past scrutiny. In 2022, English Premier League clubs were forced to review their ties with Socios following investigations into business practices. Additionally, the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) previously ruled certain Fan Token promotions as “irresponsible” for failing to highlight investment risks.

Chiliz’s latest move suggests a pivot toward “real utility,” focusing on fan experience rather than just speculative value to address these long-standing market concerns.
