Coppa Italia TV ratings drop 17% year-on-year as lack of marquee clashes hurts viewership
Mediaset has recorded just under 3 million average viewers for Coppa Italia matches from the round of 16 onwards, marking a sharp decline compared to last season.
According to data from this season, average audience figures are down 17% compared to 2024/25, while average share has fallen by 12%. The decline is largely attributed to the absence of high-profile matchups in the knockout stages.
This year’s semifinals featured fewer blockbuster fixtures compared to previous editions, where ties such as Milan–Roma or Milan derbies helped drive stronger ratings. In contrast, the current campaign saw relatively lower-profile pairings until the final, where Lazio will face Inter at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on May 13.
Inter–Como was the most-watched match of the season so far with 4.8 million viewers and a 24% share, while Atalanta–Lazio ranked fourth in the internal season standings with around 3 million viewers and a 16.5% share.
The data continues a downward trend in Coppa Italia viewership for a third consecutive year, with only limited rebounds in earlier seasons when stronger derby and top-tier clashes boosted national interest.
