Cristiano Ronaldo invests more than €20 million in a water bottling plant

Cristiano Ronaldo is expanding his business portfolio with an investment in a water bottling plant in northern Portugal. According to French sports business publication Sportune, citing Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, the facility is being developed in Gostei, with investment expected to exceed €20 million.

The project is being led by Maravilha Decimal, a company jointly owned on a 50-50 basis by Grupo Outeirinho and Ronaldo, the Al-Nassr forward and Portugal international.

Groundworks and foundation construction are already underway, with the building’s structure expected to begin taking shape in March or April. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of the following year, with operations planned to begin in early 2028, according to the reported timeline. The investment is currently being financed entirely by Maravilha Decimal.

The plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of between 500 million and 600 million litres, drawing on a local water source. Once fully operational, it could run around the clock with three rotating shifts.

Export-focused production and distinctive bottle design

The water is intended primarily for export markets. Project developers are highlighting its alkaline pH and purported antioxidant properties, while the bottle design—being developed by an Italian company—is expected to help differentiate the product in a competitive market.

The facility is initially expected to employ between 30 and 35 people, with the possibility of expanding the workforce later.

However, production remains subject to regulatory approvals. The water analyses must be validated by Portugal’s Directorate-General of Health, while the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology must authorise the extraction and use of the resource, including the establishment of a protected area around the source.

The investment adds another venture to Ronaldo’s growing business portfolio beyond football, with the project targeting large-scale production and international distribution.
