DAZN acquires Basket.TV to strengthen its basketball offering in Latin America

DAZN has acquired basketball-focused streaming service Basket.TV, expanding its presence in Latin America, a priority growth market for the sports streaming platform. The service broadcasts approximately 4,900 games per season across six countries in the region.

The acquisition adds a significant regional basketball operation to DAZN’s global content portfolio. Founded in 2020, Basket.TV has established a presence in Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay, reaching hundreds of thousands of users.

According to DAZN, the deal strengthens its basketball offering by complementing its long-standing partnership with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and its distribution of Courtside 1891, FIBA’s official streaming service. DAZN also carries basketball content from leagues and teams in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, Spain and Japan.

DAZN CEO Shay Segev said Basket.TV had built a high-quality platform combining leading domestic broadcast rights, local market expertise and a strong technology operation. He added that the acquisition would strengthen DAZN’s global basketball proposition and support its growth ambitions in Latin America.

Basket.TV broadcasts around 4,900 games per season

Basket.TV’s coverage spans more than 300 teams and includes leading domestic leagues in the markets where it operates, alongside selected international club competitions.

The platform’s regional footprint gives DAZN access to a broader range of local basketball content, complementing its existing international rights and partnerships.

Expanding DAZN’s basketball portfolio

The acquisition builds on DAZN’s existing basketball offering, which includes NBA content, NCAA college basketball and several European competitions.

Through regional broadcast rights agreements with NBA franchises, DAZN carries games involving the Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards in selected markets.

Its wider portfolio also includes the UK’s Super League Basketball, France’s LNB Élite, Spain’s Liga Endesa and Copa del Rey. A multi-year partnership with FIBA, which includes the FIBA Media joint venture, remains another key component of its basketball strategy.

By adding Basket.TV, DAZN aims to broaden its reach beyond major international competitions and strengthen its access to domestic leagues and regional basketball audiences.
