LaLiga has awarded its French domestic media rights to Disney+ and DAZN under separate three-year agreements running through the end of the 2028/29 season, strengthening the Spanish league’s international distribution strategy in one of its key overseas markets.
Beginning with the 2026/27 season, which kicks off on August 15, the two streaming platforms will jointly broadcast all 380 LaLiga EA Sports matches each season in France. The agreements cover the 2026/27, 2027/28, and 2028/29 campaigns, replacing beIN Sports as LaLiga’s French broadcast partner.
The deal reflects LaLiga’s strategy of combining DAZN’s sports-focused expertise with Disney+’s expanding live sports offering, powered by the continued rollout of the ESPN brand across Europe.
“LaLiga has always enjoyed a special connection with French fans and the great stars of our competition,” said LaLiga President Javier Tebas. “These agreements with Disney+ and DAZN will make it easier than ever for football fans across France to follow their favorite clubs, players and rivalries every week.”
DAZN Strengthens Football Portfolio in France
For DAZN, the agreement further reinforces its position in the French market after recently expanding its football offering with Ligue 1+. The streaming platform already holds LaLiga rights in markets including Spain, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Japan, and the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
“LALIGA is one of the world’s most prestigious football competitions, and we are proud to extend our partnership into the French market,” said Brice Daumin, CEO of DAZN France. “Combined with Ligue 1+, Serie A and our other international competitions, we now offer one of the most comprehensive football portfolios available to fans in France.”
Disney Continues ESPN Expansion Across Europe
The agreement also supports The Walt Disney Company’s strategy of transforming Disney+ into a major destination for live sports. LaLiga joins a growing portfolio of sports rights already available through Disney platforms in markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, the Nordic countries, and several other international territories.
“We’re delighted to bring LaLiga to Disney+ subscribers in France in a completely new way,” said Karl Holmes, General Manager of Disney+ EMEA.
Diego Londoño, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Networks & Sports at The Walt Disney Company EMEA, added that LaLiga’s arrival marks another significant milestone as ESPN continues expanding within Disney+ across Europe.
The agreement further strengthens LaLiga’s global media strategy by partnering with leading international streaming platforms while capitalizing on the league’s strong popularity in France, driven by the presence of French players and the global appeal of clubs such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid.
