Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena will host the inaugural EuroLeague Basketball SuperCup on September 18-19, bringing together Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, Real Madrid and Dubai Basketball.
The new competition will open the European club basketball season and follow a Final Four format, with two games played on each day.
Olympiacos will face Fenerbahce on September 18, followed by Dubai Basketball against Real Madrid. The tournament will conclude on September 19 with the third-place game and the final.
The event further strengthens Abu Dhabi’s growing position as a host for major international basketball competitions. Etihad Arena previously staged the EuroLeague Final Four in 2025, while the Euroleague Basketball and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism have agreed a five-year partnership that includes two additional events.
The agreement comes as Euroleague Basketball continues to expand its presence in the UAE. Dubai Basketball joined the EuroLeague last season through an initial five-year wildcard agreement and plays its home games at Coca-Cola Arena.
Etihad Arena has also become a regular destination for NBA events, with the league committing to additional games in Abu Dhabi.
Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, director general for tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, said the inaugural SuperCup represented another milestone in the emirate’s long-term partnership with Euroleague Basketball and would strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a global destination for elite sporting events.
Euroleague Basketball president Dejan Bodiroga said the competition marked “an exciting new chapter” for European club basketball, adding that Abu Dhabi had demonstrated a strong commitment to the sport and the delivery of major international events.
The inaugural SuperCup will feature four clubs with strong European credentials. Olympiacos enter as the reigning EuroLeague champions, Fenerbahce won the competition in 2025, while Real Madrid finished runners-up last season. Dubai Basketball will represent the UAE as the competition’s newest participant.
