As FC Barcelona aims to surpass the €1 billion milestone with a projected total revenue of €1.075 billion for the 2025-2026 financial year, Joan Laporta’s board of directors is successfully unlocking new digital income streams. At the forefront of this strategy is the club’s official YouTube channel, which has registered its highest-ever commercial turnover.
According to financial figures sourced by Palco23, the Catalan giants generated a record-breaking $1.174 million in net revenue through YouTube during the 2025-2026 campaign. This surpasses the club’s previous historical high of $1.171 million set during the 2021-2022 season.
A 25% year-on-year financial surge
FC Barcelona has been directly monetizing its YouTube presence since the 2010-2011 season. This past year’s performance represents a 25% financial increase compared to the 2024-2025 cycle, and a massive 99% leap when stacked against the digital downturn of the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
Paloma Mikadze, Director of Barça Identity and Barça Media 360, highlighted how this growth validates the club’s evolving media philosophy:
“Achieving the best financial result in the history of our YouTube channel is fantastic news because it confirms that our strategy is working. Over the last few seasons, we have evolved our content proposition, betting on more relevant formats, higher audience value, and new monetization avenues. This 25% growth and the new record prove that we are connecting with an expanding and highly engaged global community.”
The formula behind the numbers: Memberships and direct sales
Mikadze added that this financial milestone is the direct result of an institutional pivot toward sustainable digital business models, moving away from relying solely on standard programmatic ad revenue:
“We have built a model that integrates content, audience, and business through initiatives like YouTube Membership, the direct commercialization of our digital assets, and an editorial offering adapted to modern consumption habits. This record reinforces our conviction that proprietary media channels are a key asset in bridging the gap between the club and our fans worldwide.”
Widening the gap over global rivals
Since its inception in February 2006, the blaugrana channel has amassed over 15,000 videos and a staggering 7.643 billion lifetime views. FC Barcelona previously made history by becoming the first sports entity in the world to surpass 20 million subscribers, and its community currently stands at a dominant 26.2 million subscribers.
With these metrics, Barcelona maintains a significant lead over elite European football clubs on the platform:
- Juventus: 14.5 million subscribers
- Liverpool FC: 12.5 million subscribers
- Manchester United FC: 11.2 million subscribers
- Paris Saint-Germain: 10.4 million subscribers
Data from the CIES Football Observatory further underscores this digital dominance, showing that Barcelona boasts nearly four times the subscriber base of Atlético de Madrid and ten times that of Serie A’s AC Milan, cementing its position as the undisputed leader in sports digital media.
