FIFA has launched a new memorabilia product by offering fans the chance to purchase authentic pieces of the pitch that will be used in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, scheduled for July 19 at New York/New Jersey Stadium.
Each fragment of the final’s grass is being sold through FIFA’s official online store for $450, with every piece permanently preserved inside a 17.5-centimeter premium acrylic cube.
Limited collector’s edition
The collectible, officially named “Piece of the Pitch – Foundation Edition,” has already sold out through FIFA’s online store. According to the product listing, however, deliveries are limited to customers with addresses in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe.
Designed as a display piece for homes or offices, the souvenir also includes a commemorative USB drive.
According to FIFA’s description:
“Own a genuine piece of football history with an authentic fragment of the FIFA World Cup 2026 pitch, permanently preserved in premium acrylic with a commemorative USB drive.”
The organization adds that every item contains an original section of the iconic World Cup final playing surface, making it a unique collector’s piece celebrating one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
Certified authenticity
FIFA says each souvenir comes with a certificate of authenticity and is aimed at collectors and football supporters alike. The grass will only be removed from the stadium after the World Cup final has been played.
The initiative comes despite criticism surrounding the playing surface at New York/New Jersey Stadium, which has hosted a high number of matches during the tournament and has drawn complaints about pitch quality.
Unfazed by the controversy, FIFA is using the collectible as another premium merchandising initiative, continuing its strategy of maximizing commercial opportunities around the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.
