With the FIFA World Cup 2026 approaching, FIFA will temporarily remove the Mercedes-Benz name and logo from Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
During the tournament, the venue will be referred to as “Atlanta Stadium,†in line with FIFA’s commercial and branding regulations for host venues.
The stadium’s naming rights deal, reportedly worth more than $10 million annually through 2042, will be paused for the duration of the competition. Workers have already begun covering the Mercedes-Benz logo on the exterior with World Cup branding.
FIFA’s requirements extend beyond naming rights. The organization is also enforcing specific pitch standards, including the installation of natural grass surfaces at venues that typically use artificial turf.
Once the tournament concludes, the stadium is expected to revert to its original name and branding, with existing sponsorship agreements resuming as normal.
The move highlights FIFA’s strict control over commercial rights during the World Cup, requiring host venues—many of them NFL stadiums—to temporarily adapt in order to stage matches.
