ACF Fiorentina has expressed interest in co-financing the next phase of the redevelopment of Stadio Artemio Franchi, proposing a €55 million contribution toward the €110 million required to complete the project.
The proposal was confirmed following a site visit involving club general manager Alessandro Ferrari, Italian sports minister Andrea Abodi, and Florence mayor Sara Funaro, who reviewed progress on the first phase of construction.
Owned by the Municipality of Florence, the stadium has been Fiorentina’s home since 1931. Renovation work began in 2024, with the club continuing to play at the venue despite reduced capacity during construction.
The funding offer was formally submitted by club president Giuseppe B. Commisso, representing the Commisso family. The proposal remains conditional on factors including cost control, clear construction timelines, site handover after the first phase, and agreements on future stadium usage rights.
Planned upgrades include a new roof and modernized grandstands, increasing capacity to at least 40,000 seats.
The redevelopment timeline, currently targeting completion by 2029, could impact the stadium’s role in UEFA Euro 2032, which will be co-hosted by Italy and Turkey.
