France’s qualification for the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup has not only marked a major sporting achievement but also secured a significant financial reward. By reaching the last four, Les Bleus have guaranteed at least $27 million (approximately €22.9 million) in prize money from FIFA.
Under FIFA’s prize distribution system, that amount represents the minimum payout awarded to the team finishing fourth in the tournament. France could still earn considerably more depending on its final position, with $29 million allocated for third place, $33 million for the runners-up, and $50 million for the World Cup champions.
Players expected to receive between $250,000 and $300,000 each
Although the French Football Federation (FFF) has not officially disclosed the bonus structure for players, it has traditionally distributed around 30% of FIFA’s prize money among the squad and coaching staff.
Based on that practice, approximately $8.1 million of the guaranteed $27 million prize fund would be shared with the players and staff. As a result, each player and staff member is expected to receive a bonus of between $250,000 and $300,000.
Should France reach the final or go on to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup, both the federation’s overall prize money and the bonuses paid to players would increase significantly.
