France’s World Cup run drives surge in jersey sales

France’s impressive campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has not only delivered success on the pitch but has also translated into a significant boost in retail sales. Sports retailer Intersport has released its first sales figures, highlighting strong demand for France national team merchandise during the tournament.

According to the company, 140,000 France jerseys had been sold as of July 5, 2026. Les Bleus’ World Cup run has also fueled demand for football equipment, with more than 141,000 footballs sold since the start of the tournament.

Portugal and Spain complete the podium

France comfortably tops the jersey sales rankings, followed by Portugal, with 45,000 jerseys sold, while Spain ranks third with 15,000 units.

The figures underline how the FIFA World Cup continues to generate strong commercial momentum beyond broadcasting and sponsorship revenues, with licensed merchandise sales receiving a major boost. France’s qualification for the semi-finals is also expected to drive jersey sales even higher in the coming days.
