Inter brings baseball aesthetics to football with new 2026/27 away kit

Inter has unveiled its 2026/27 Away Kit in collaboration with Nike, introducing one of football’s most distinctive cross-sport design concepts by drawing inspiration from the visual identity of baseball.

The launch marks more than the release of a new jersey. According to the club, baseball represents the first chapter of a broader creative strategy that will see future away kits reinterpret elements from different sports while maintaining Inter’s Nerazzurri identity.

Baseball-inspired design

The new away shirt incorporates several features commonly associated with classic baseball uniforms, including:

  • Blue vertical pinstripes on a white base.
  • A contrast collar inspired by traditional baseball jerseys.
  • An enlarged “IM” monogram, replacing Inter’s iconic circular crest for the first time on an official match kit.

The concept reflects a growing trend in football merchandising, where clubs increasingly position kits as lifestyle products rather than purely on-field apparel.

A strategic play beyond football

Inter confirmed that baseball is only the beginning of a wider creative program. Future away kits will continue exploring design influences from other sports while preserving the club’s identity.

The strategy is designed to expand the appeal of club merchandise beyond traditional football supporters, targeting fashion-conscious consumers, collectors and younger audiences interested in cultural collaborations.

New York chosen for global launch

The accompanying Express Collection—featuring a jersey, jacket and cap—was photographed in New York by fashion photographer Alessandro Simonetti.

The city was selected not only because of its deep connection to baseball, but also because the United States remains one of Inter’s key international growth markets.

The official launch at Fanatics Fest NYC further highlights how leading football clubs are increasingly using major global consumer events, rather than solely club-owned platforms, to introduce new products and strengthen brand visibility.

Performance meets sustainability

Alongside the new design concept, Nike introduced its latest Aero-FIT technology into the kit.

The jersey is engineered to improve airflow and cooling performance while being manufactured entirely from recycled textile waste, reinforcing Nike’s ongoing commitment to performance innovation and sustainability.
