LeBron James transfer reshapes NBA national TV schedule

The arrival of LeBron James at the Philadelphia 76ers is already reshaping the NBA’s national television schedule for the 2026-27 season, highlighting the commercial impact of the league’s biggest star.

After NBA Commissioner Adam Silver acknowledged that the league delayed finalizing its schedule until LeBron decided on his next team, broadcasters moved quickly to maximize the number of nationally televised 76ers games.

According to Front Office Sports, Philadelphia is expected to receive the NBA maximum of 34 nationally televised games across ABC, ESPN, NBC Sports, Peacock and Amazon Prime Video during the upcoming season.

The increase is dramatic compared to the 2025-26 season, when the 76ers had just 14 national broadcasts. LeBron’s arrival also positions Philadelphia to feature in marquee showcase games, including the NBA’s traditional Christmas Day slate.

Under the NBA’s 11-year, $76 billion domestic media rights agreement, every franchise is guaranteed at least two nationally televised games per season. However, only a handful of teams reach the maximum allocation of 34 games.

Last season, only the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder, and NBA champion New York Knicks reached that ceiling.

LeBron’s move to Philadelphia is expected to boost not only the 76ers’ on-court profile but also their commercial value, television exposure and national audience, reinforcing the veteran superstar’s influence on the league’s media and broadcasting strategy.
