The clubs of Liga F have approved by a two-thirds majority a landmark commercial investment plan led by former basketball star Pau Gasol through his fund Gasol16 Ventures, alongside Fortified Partners.
The agreement, worth €55 million, will be disbursed over four seasons and is designed to accelerate the growth, professionalization, and international expansion of Spain’s top-tier women’s football competition.
According to Liga F, the deal represents “the largest private investment received by a women’s football league and one of the most significant investments in the history of professional women’s sport worldwide.”
The funding will focus on strengthening Liga F’s commercial and operational structure, helping the league build a more sustainable and globally competitive model. At present, commercial rights for the competition are still managed by LaLiga, which has supported the league’s development since its creation.
In addition to the investment approval, Liga F also reported continued growth in viewership. The 2025–26 season reached approximately 7.5 million viewers, marking an 11.2% increase compared to the previous year.
The move is seen as a major step forward in the professionalization of women’s football in Spain, with the Gasol-led investment expected to strengthen infrastructure, visibility, and international reach over the coming years.
