Liga F Calls Presidential Elections Following Beatriz Álvarez’s Resignation

Liga F Calls Presidential Elections After Beatriz Álvarez Resigns

Liga F has officially launched its presidential election process following the resignation of Beatriz Álvarez, who had led the competition since its professionalization in 2022.

The league’s electoral commission — formed by Sevilla FC, Granada CF, and Costa Adeje Tenerife — has approved the election timeline, with candidates able to submit their applications between April 7 and April 15.

Candidacy requirements defined

According to league regulations, candidates must secure a minimum of four endorsements from member clubs or associated entities to formalize their candidacy.

The official endorsement model has already been distributed to clubs and sports corporations, alongside the full electoral calendar and procedural documentation.

Leadership transition at a key moment

Álvarez’s departure comes at a pivotal stage for Liga F, which has undergone significant structural and commercial development since becoming Spain’s first fully professional women’s football league.

Her tenure followed a career that included roles as president of Oviedo Moderno and director general of sports for the Principality of Asturias. At Liga F, she played a central role in shaping the league’s early professional framework and commercial identity.

Next phase for the league

The upcoming election will determine the leadership responsible for guiding Liga F through its next phase of growth, as the competition continues to build its commercial model, audience reach, and institutional structure.

With the professionalization process still evolving, the choice of president is expected to play a key role in defining the league’s long-term strategy both on and off the pitch.
