The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) and Kipsta, the football brand of Decathlon, have unveiled the official match balls that will be used for the 2026–27 season in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
The new Ligue 1 ball stands out with a bold and modern design featuring bright, warm color tones combined with deep purple accents. It is intended to reflect the top division’s dynamic and high-profile identity.
In contrast, the Ligue 2 ball adopts a cooler visual style, with a stronger emphasis on green tones that represent the traditional identity of the competition. Its design is more understated but still modern and performance-focused.
From a technical standpoint, both balls are identical. They use a thermally bonded, seamless construction that improves roundness and durability. A textured microfibre surface enhances grip and ball control, while the aerodynamic design ensures stable flight during play. Both models are certified FIFA Quality Pro, confirming their suitability for top-level professional football.
The balls were developed, designed, and tested at Decathlon’s innovation centre in Tourcoing. In addition to the standard match balls, a special collector edition will also be produced for a dedicated Children’s Rights awareness matchday, continuing a tradition from previous seasons.
Overall, the new match balls aim to clearly distinguish Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 visually while maintaining consistent elite-level performance standards across both competitions.
