Ligue 1 Plus subscribers fall to 1m as Nasser Al-Khelaifi criticises LFP Media

Subscriber numbers for Ligue 1 Plus have dropped to around one million, raising concerns among clubs despite expectations of a short-term rebound.

The platform, launched after the collapse of the DAZN deal, is projected to regain 200,000 to 300,000 subscribers next season. This anticipated increase is linked to the addition of the ninth weekly Ligue 1 match, previously aired by beIN Sports, to Ligue 1 Plus.

Subscription prices are also set to rise to €19.90 per month. Despite these fluctuations, LFP Media has reassured clubs that domestic broadcasting revenues will remain broadly stable compared to last season.

However, criticism has emerged from Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, who expressed frustration over the lack of growth in international broadcasting revenues. He urged LFP Media to strengthen its strategy in overseas markets, where Ligue 1 visibility remains limited.

In markets such as the UK, Ligue 1 matches are no longer widely available on traditional television and are instead streamed via digital platforms like Ligue 1 Pass.
