The Bank of Scotland has unveiled a limited-edition £20 banknote celebrating Scott McTominay’s famous overhead kick goal against Denmark, which helped secure Scotland’s qualification for the World Cup.
The design blends traditional banknote features with imagery inspired by McTominay’s strike, marking Scotland’s return to the tournament for the first time since 1998.
Only 100 notes have been produced, with 50 available through auctions, prize draws, and pop-up events in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
McTominay scored early in Scotland’s 4-2 victory over Denmark at Hampden Park, a result that sealed their World Cup place.
The midfielder said it was “incredibly special” to see the moment commemorated on a banknote, calling it a dream shared with fans.
Proceeds from auctions and draws will go to Crisis Scotland, a charity supporting people experiencing homelessness.
The 2026 World Cup will be held across 16 cities in the US, Canada, and Mexico, featuring 48 teams.
