Movistar Plus has strengthened its Spanish basketball offering after striking an agreement with DAZN that will see selected Liga ACB games broadcast across its main channels, increasing exposure of Spain’s top domestic competition.
Under the deal, two Liga ACB matches per matchday will be shown on Movistar Plus+ and Vamos por M+, making them available to all subscribers of the Telefónica-owned platform. Previously, full coverage of the league was restricted to users with Movistar’s dedicated sports package.
The agreement arrives during a critical phase of the Liga ACB season, as clubs compete for playoff positions.
Movistar had lost full domestic rights to Liga ACB in 2025 after DAZN secured a multi-year deal to become the league’s primary broadcaster. However, this latest carriage arrangement allows Movistar to retain a visible role in the competition by distributing select fixtures to a wider audience.
DAZN now holds full rights to Spain’s top basketball league, including playoffs and the Copa del Rey, while also offering a free-to-air match each week under its wider distribution strategy.
The partnership reflects an ongoing trend in European sports broadcasting, where rights fragmentation is increasingly offset by cross-platform carriage deals designed to maintain audience reach while rights ownership shifts toward streaming-first operators.
