Nike and the WNBA have officially unveiled the 2026 Rebel Edition uniforms, introducing a league-wide collection designed to celebrate the cultural identity and community roots of all 15 franchises during the WNBA’s historic 30th anniversary season.
Released ahead of the 2026 campaign, the Rebel Edition series serves as the league’s boldest uniform platform yet, complementing the white “Heroine” and team-colour “Explorer” kits already featured across the WNBA ecosystem.
The initiative arrives at a pivotal commercial moment for the league, with surging global interest in women’s basketball transforming merchandise and lifestyle apparel into a major revenue driver.
Each Rebel Edition uniform was developed with direct input from the teams, using local culture, history, and symbolism as the foundation of the designs.
The New York Liberty drew inspiration from the Brooklyn Bridge, incorporating seafoam tones and tonal striping that reference the bridge’s suspension cables. The jersey also features a quote from Emily Warren Roebling, honouring the role women played in the landmark’s construction.
For the Washington Mystics, the “District of Change” concept pays tribute to Washington D.C.’s U Street corridor and the cultural legacy of Ben’s Chili Bowl. The design transitions from navy into vibrant “Laser Fuchsia,” inspired by Virginia Ali, the iconic matriarch behind the historic establishment.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Dream collaborated directly with stars Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray to create a black-based design symbolising resilience, accented with peach tones representing Georgia heritage and woven area codes celebrating Atlanta’s identity.
Expansion franchise Portland Fire also introduced its first-ever Rebel Edition uniform as part of the club’s inaugural WNBA season, using the launch to establish an energetic and modern visual identity tied to the city of Portland.
According to Nike designer Katie West, the objective behind the collection was to transform each franchise’s identity into a performance product athletes could wear “with confidence.”
The jerseys feature Nike’s Dri-FIT technology, specifically engineered to meet the performance and comfort needs of female athletes at the highest level of competition.
Alongside the on-court uniforms, Nike and the WNBA also launched the “Victory Rebel Edition” lifestyle range, including hoodies, shorts, and T-shirts aimed at expanding the league’s growing global fashion and fanwear presence.
The launch coincides with a period of unprecedented economic momentum for the WNBA. Rising franchise values, increased media visibility, and the arrival of a new generation of stars have accelerated commercial growth across the league.
Recent headlines surrounding the USD1 billion valuation of the Golden State Valkyries further reinforced investor confidence in the women’s basketball market.
Nike and the WNBA are also leveraging the popularity of high-profile young talent, including Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd, and Angel Reese, with customised Rebel Edition jerseys already positioned as flagship retail products for the 2026 season.
Retail versions of the uniforms are priced at USD105 and are available through official Nike, Fanatics, and team retail channels.
