Notre Dame has announced a landmark jersey patch agreement with financial services company SoFi, a deal reportedly worth between $18 million and $20 million annually, making it the richest known jersey patch partnership in college sports.
Athletic director Pete Bevacqua confirmed the collaboration on Tuesday, revealing that SoFi’s logo will appear on Notre Dame uniforms, including the iconic football jerseys. The announcement came just hours after Ohio State unveiled a $17 million-per-year jersey patch agreement with Chase Bank, a record that Notre Dame has now surpassed.
Beginning August 1, NCAA rules will allow schools to display up to two sponsor logo patches—each measuring no more than four square inches—on team uniforms, along with one logo on equipment. An additional patch will also be permitted during conference championship events.
“SoFi shares in this commitment to developing strong, ambitious leaders who are set up for success at Notre Dame and beyond,” Bevacqua said. “Together, our relationship will create lasting value for our student-athletes and their families for generations to come.”
The agreement arrives as Notre Dame, despite its approximately $25 billion university endowment, faces mounting financial pressures similar to other major college athletic programs. Rising athlete compensation costs have significantly increased operating expenses, with industry estimates suggesting the school’s 2026 football roster cost more than $40 million to assemble.
The additional sponsorship revenue is expected to strengthen Notre Dame’s athletic budget as the university prioritizes investment in championship-contending programs such as football and men’s and women’s basketball.
Notre Dame will debut the new SoFi jersey patch when it opens the 2026 football season against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field on September 6. The uniforms will feature both SoFi and Under Armour branding on the front, while continuing the program’s long-standing tradition of leaving players’ names off the back of their jerseys.
