PayPal expands NFL footprint with Seattle Seahawks partnership

Global payments company PayPal has strengthened its growing sports portfolio by signing a multi-year partnership with the Seattle Seahawks, marking its first club-level deal in the National Football League following its recent league-wide agreement.

Under the partnership, PayPal will become the Seahawks’ official fan-to-fan payments provider and exclusive digital ticket payment processing partner, integrating its system directly with Ticketmaster for season ticket purchases — a first-of-its-kind setup for an NFL franchise.

The agreement also extends beyond transactions into fan experience activation. PayPal will serve as presenting partner of the Seahawks’ Gameday Experience Program, offering supporters access to premium matchday opportunities such as pregame field access, on-field player introduction experiences, and postgame press conference entry at every home game.

Amy Sprangers, the Seahawks’ Chief Revenue Officer, highlighted the strategic alignment between the two organisations, emphasising innovation in the fan experience and digital commerce integration.

The Seahawks become PayPal’s first NFL club partner after the company was named the league’s official peer-to-peer payments partner earlier this year. The move follows a broader push by PayPal to expand its presence in global sport, including a previous partnership with Liverpool FC as its official digital payments partner.

The deal also comes at a significant moment for the franchise itself. Owned by the estate of late billionaire Paul Allen, the Seahawks are currently in a formal sale process. The team is widely expected to command a record valuation, with recent estimates placing its worth at around $6.7 billion.

With this partnership, PayPal continues to position itself at the intersection of sport, digital commerce and fan engagement, as leagues and clubs increasingly look to monetise and modernise the matchday experience.
