Public Investment Fund has expanded its relationship with FIFA after being announced as an official regional supporter of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The agreement covers both North America and Asia for the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Mexico and Canada between June 11 and July 19, 2026.
The partnership will be activated through two PIF-backed entities: Savvy Games Group and Qiddiya City, the large-scale entertainment and sports destination currently under development in Saudi Arabia.
The deal further strengthens the commercial relationship between FIFA and PIF following last year’s sponsorship agreement involving the FIFA Club World Cup, which was also staged in the United States.
The latest partnership also arrives ahead of Saudi Arabia hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup, further underlining the Kingdom’s growing influence within global football.
According to FIFA, the collaboration will focus on delivering fan engagement initiatives and expanding football participation opportunities through innovation and entertainment-driven experiences.
Romy Gai said the partnership would help “grow our sport across the globe through unlocking new opportunities, fostering innovation and engaging youth.”
Meanwhile, Mohamed Al Sayyad described the agreement as an extension of the organisations’ previous collaboration around the FIFA Club World Cup, adding that PIF aims to continue supporting football’s global development ecosystem.
Beyond FIFA, PIF has become one of the most influential investors in international sport. The fund holds majority stakes in several Saudi Pro League clubs and also backs the ownership consortium behind Newcastle United FC.
Outside football, PIF has also financed the LIV Golf project over the past five years, although reports suggest the fund intends to reduce or end its support following the conclusion of the 2026 season.
