RC Lens opens its capital to finance Bollaert-Delelis projects

French Ligue 1 club RC Lens has reshaped its ownership structure to finance new projects around the Bollaert-Delelis Stadium. The club has brought two new investors on board, while Joseph Oughourlian remains the majority shareholder.

According to the club’s announcement on August 31, Oughourlian will retain a 69.10% stake. New investor Entrepreneur Equity Partners (EEP) has acquired 13.93% of the club, while Jean-Paul Lempereur, through his personal holding company, has taken a 2.79% stake. Side Invest will retain its 13.56% shareholding, while former RC Lens player Seko Fofana continues to hold 0.62%.

EEP’s investment will be dedicated entirely to planned projects around the Bollaert-Delelis Stadium. RC Lens aims to enhance the fan experience and transform the venue into an asset capable of generating revenue beyond matchdays.

The projects will be developed in partnership with the City of Lens. The club sees the strategy as a way to diversify its revenue streams and strengthen its financial independence at a challenging time for French football. Further details of the planned developments are expected to be announced in the coming months.

The ownership changes have also resulted in adjustments to the club’s board. Pierre Dréossi has stepped down, while Nhood president Antoine Grolin has joined the board. EEP will be represented by Tim Leiweke.

RC Lens also indicated that it remains open to developing a fan ownership model that could allow supporters to play a more direct role in the club’s future.

Deloitte Sports Business Group and White & Case advised the club and majority shareholder Joseph Oughourlian on the transaction. EEP was advised by Bryan Cave, Leighton Paisner and Consello.
