Manchester-based sports technology company Rezzil has raised $10 million in new funding, with the Premier League continuing its backing and footballer Jobe Bellingham joining the investor group as the company prepares to expand across the UK and North America.
The round also includes existing investor Simba Investments and new investment from golf coach Phil Kenyon. Bellingham’s investment is part of a broader strategic partnership with his family, under which Rezzil’s technology will support future digital initiatives.
The deal adds Bellingham to a high-profile investor roster that already includes Thierry Henry, Cesc Fàbregas, Vincent Kompany, Tyrone Mings, Michail Antonio, and England rugby internationals Anthony Watson and Marcus Smith.
Founded in Manchester in 2016 by Adam Dickinson, Andy Etches and Gareth Thatcher, Rezzil initially built its business around virtual reality training technology for professional footballers. The company has since expanded into broadcasting and fan engagement, with its analysis and visualisation technology regularly used by the BBC’s Match of the Day.
Rezzil targets ‘Movement Intelligence’ growth
The latest funding will support Rezzil’s development of what it calls “Movement Intelligence” — technology designed to convert human movement into data and insights for athletes, coaches, broadcasters and sports organisations.
The company is targeting applications across elite performance, broadcast analysis, digital fan experiences and consumer gaming, with mobile products expected to be a particular area of focus.
Rezzil has also established offices in London and Chicago and plans to double its global workforce to around 100 employees over the next 12 months.
CEO Sion Colley and CFO Paul Mann are leading the company’s next phase of expansion. The pair previously worked together at Angstrom Sports before its acquisition by Entain in 2023 and have also invested in Rezzil through a strategic consortium.
Jake Loos, who previously worked at Hawk-Eye and the NBA, has been appointed to lead Rezzil’s expansion in North America.
The new funding gives Rezzil additional capital to scale its technology across sport while positioning “Movement Intelligence” as a broader sports technology category spanning performance, media, fan engagement and gaming.
