The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has appointed Capgemini as its official digital transformation partner, in a move designed to overhaul its digital ecosystem and enhance engagement across all levels of English rugby.
The partnership will see Capgemini lead the development and optimisation of the RFU’s digital platforms, with a focus on improving the experience for players, volunteers, and fans through data, AI, and technology-driven services.
The collaboration forms part of the RFU’s broader Plan 2030: More than a game strategy, which aims to expand participation in rugby while strengthening community access and inclusion initiatives.
Beyond elite competition, the partnership will also target grassroots growth, with Capgemini working to modernise core systems and introduce new digital tools to support the sport’s infrastructure nationwide.
RFU executives said the deal will accelerate innovation across the organisation, while Capgemini described the partnership as an opportunity to apply AI-led transformation to a sport with strong community roots.
