Enrique Riquelme has unveiled a bold and wide-ranging vision as part of his candidacy for the presidency of Real Madrid CF, with the standout proposal being the creation of a large “fan city” around the Santiago Bernabéu.
Speaking at his campaign presentation in Madrid, Riquelme positioned his project around one central idea: restoring power and privileges to club members. “Since 2004, members have been completely forgotten. Real Madrid has lost its essence,” he said.
The most striking proposal is a “Member City” development planned for the Valdebebas area. The project would include:
- A supporters’ hotel
- Dedicated fan zones
- A 15,000-seat arena for basketball and concerts
- Padel courts and recreational facilities
- Social and community spaces
- Dedicated entertainment areas for club members
Riquelme described the concept as a new home for Real Madrid supporters, saying: “We will create a home for Madridismo. This will be a place of unity, not division.”
He also announced several membership-focused reforms, including:
- A lottery system for 10,000 new season tickets
- A 50% reduction in membership fees until the club wins another Champions League title
- Priority access to tickets for non-season-ticket holders
- Exclusive VIP box draws for members at every match
Other proposals include reviving the Santiago Bernabéu Trophy and creating a “Legends Center” inside the club museum.
Santiago Bernabéu Stadium would also play a central role in the broader fan experience ecosystem envisioned by Riquelme.
While he avoided detailed sporting plans, Riquelme promised future announcements regarding transfers and coaching decisions. He previously hinted that a Spanish Real Madrid player would feature at the World Cup if he becomes president.
The presentation ended with applause and chants of “President, president” as Riquelme thanked club members and supporters.
