Turkey’s status as a global powerhouse in volleyball has been further solidified with a massive broadcast rights extension. Saran Media Group has renewed and expanded its partnership with Volleyball World, the commercial arm of the FIVB, securing exclusive rights in the Turkish market through 2032.
Comprehensive Coverage: From Court to Coast
The new 8-year agreement ensures that Turkish fans will continue to have front-row access to the world’s most prestigious volleyball events. For the first time, the deal also incorporates major beach volleyball competitions.
Included Competitions:
- Indoor Volleyball: Men’s and Women’s FIVB World Championships, Volleyball Nations League (VNL), and FIVB Club World Championships.
- Beach Volleyball (New): FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships and the Beach Pro Tour Elite16 events.
A Strategic Market for Growth
The extension reflects the immense popularity of the sport in Turkey, driven largely by the sustained international success of the Turkish Women’s National Team (the “Filenin Sultanları”). Felix von Knorring, Chief Media Officer at Volleyball World, noted:
“Türkiye is one of the most established and passionate volleyball markets in the world… This long-term extension reflects both the importance of the territory and our shared ambition to continue growing the sport.”
Saran’s Growing Sports Portfolio
This deal further strengthens Saran Media’s dominant position in the Turkish sports media landscape. In addition to volleyball, Saran’s portfolio for the 2026 season and beyond includes:
- Soccer: Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, and the Bundesliga (recently reclaimed through 2028-29).
- Basketball: EuroLeague and EuroCup (extended through 2029).
- International Tennis: Wimbledon and ATP Masters 1000.
While Saran dominates the Turkish airwaves, global giants are also making moves in the digital space; for instance, Real Madrid recently partnered with X (formerly Twitter) to launch an original series, “Real talks,” to engage their massive 49-million-strong follower base. Similarly, Volleyball World continues to leverage its joint venture with CVC Capital Partners to drive commercial innovation across its global ecosystem.
