Serie A is evaluating offers from Avenue Capital and a Nextalia-Carlyle consortium for a stake in a new media company that would manage and commercialise the Italian league’s international broadcasting rights, with the business potentially valued at €3.2 billion.
According to Reuters, cited by Calcio e Finanza, Avenue Capital is currently the frontrunner in the discussions, having submitted an initial offer of €320 million for a 10% stake in the proposed company.
If accepted, the offer would imply a total valuation of €3.2 billion for the venture, which the Lega Serie A intends to establish to manage and monetise its overseas media rights.
The league is pursuing parallel discussions with Avenue Capital and the Nextalia-Carlyle consortium as it explores ways to maximise the commercial value of Serie A’s international distribution.
The negotiations remain ongoing, with the Italian top-flight clubs expected to hold further discussions in the coming weeks in an effort to reach an agreement.
The proposed structure would represent a significant step in Serie A’s strategy to strengthen the commercial management of its international media rights and unlock additional long-term value from its global audience.
The €3.2 billion valuation is implied by Avenue Capital’s reported initial offer and does not represent a completed transaction or a final agreed valuation.
