StubHub to Pay $10M After FTC Accuses Ticket Platform of Hidden NFL Fees

StubHub has agreed to pay $10 million to settle federal allegations that it failed to properly disclose full ticket prices during a key NFL sales window.

The settlement, announced by the Federal Trade Commission, centers on claims that the secondary ticketing platform violated the agency’s Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees by not displaying mandatory fees upfront during the 2025 NFL schedule release period.

According to regulators, StubHub deliberately withheld full pricing information for a limited time in order to capitalize on heightened consumer demand around the schedule announcement, when ticket interest spikes across the league.

The FTC said companies are required to clearly present total costs before checkout, including all mandatory fees, to prevent misleading pricing practices.

StubHub did not admit wrongdoing as part of the settlement but agreed to resolve the matter through the $10 million payment.

The case adds to growing regulatory pressure on the online ticketing industry, which has faced increased scrutiny over transparency in pricing, resale practices, and consumer protections.

The NFL, which routinely generates one of the highest-demand ticket markets globally during schedule release periods, was cited as a key catalyst for the timing of the alleged violations.
