“It doesn’t matter where you’re sitting anymore to operate,” says Stefan Wistuba, Project Director at HBS. While the main match coverage is still cut by directors live at the stadium compounds, the operational center of gravity has shifted entirely to the International Broadcast Center (IBC) in downtown Dallas. Inside a 12,000-square-meter facility, operators are handling slow-motion replays, advanced graphics, immersive audio mixing, and camera shading for matches being played thousands of miles away.
Managing this staggering volume of content requires an unprecedented tech stack. Each of the 16 venues is backed by a massive 600-gigabit contribution network, feeding uncompressed UHD HDR signals directly to Dallas. Rather than relying on rigid broadcast hardware, HBS is utilizing a private cloud built on 60 high-power servers running software-defined processing. This allows top-tier replay and shading talent—organized into language-specific cohorts—to work multiple matches a day without ever boarding a plane. As the tournament moves toward its climax, the legacy of 2026 is already clear: the era of the massive, localized compound is fading, replaced by an invisible, hyper-connected digital grid.
