US-based investment consortium Pitchwise Holdings has agreed to acquire a 42% stake in Valencia in a deal valuing the Spanish club at €1.25 billion, alongside a separate €100 million capital injection.
Peter Lim’s Meriton Holdings will retain majority control, while Kiat Lim will continue as Valencia president. Pitchwise executives Ann Rodriguez and Corey Woolfolk are expected to take active leadership roles at the club.
The consortium is backed by KKR co-founders George Roberts and Henry Kravis, as well as Penner Sports Group, whose portfolio includes NFL franchise Denver Broncos.
Lim said Pitchwise was the preferred partner among investors interested in Valencia, highlighting the consortium’s long-term investment expertise and experience in sports.
The development of Valencia’s new stadium, Nou Mestalla, is expected to be central to the investment strategy. The venue, which will have a capacity of more than 70,000, is projected to create additional revenue opportunities across ticketing, hospitality, sponsorship and non-football events. The allocation of the €100 million capital injection has not yet been disclosed.
The €1.25 billion figure represents an enterprise valuation of Valencia rather than the confirmed cash consideration for the 42% stake. The valuation is equivalent to almost 10 times the club’s 2024/25 revenue.
The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.
The deal adds to a growing wave of US investment in Spanish football, following Apollo’s acquisition of a majority stake in Atlético Madrid earlier this year and CVC’s investment in LaLiga’s commercial business in 2021.
For Valencia, the investment comes after several years of supporter frustration during Lim’s ownership, marked by protests, delays to the Nou Mestalla project and inconsistent sporting results.
