With 144 Goals, including 22 from Mbappé, Nike wins the World Cup boot battle

Despite not featuring in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, Nike finished top of the tournament’s boot manufacturer rankings, with players wearing the brand’s boots scoring 144 goals.

Nike comfortably finished ahead of Adidas, whose players scored 116 goals, while Puma ranked third with 15. Nike also recorded five own goals, compared with six for Adidas.

The US sportswear giant led the rankings throughout the tournament, benefiting from the performances of several of the competition’s most prolific teams and players. Nike’s advantage was further extended during the third-place play-off between England and France, a 6-4 thriller in which Kylian Mbappé scored twice.

Those two goals helped Mbappé finish the tournament as the top scorer with 10 goals, ahead of Adidas-sponsored Lionel Messi, who scored eight. Mbappé became the first player to reach 10 goals in a single World Cup since Germany’s Gerd Müller in 1970. He also became the first player in history to finish as the tournament’s top scorer at two different World Cups, following his 2022 success.

The French forward also took his World Cup tally to 22 goals, making him the tournament’s all-time leading scorer ahead of Messi, who has 21.

The ranking of national-team kit manufacturers produced a similar hierarchy. Teams wearing Nike kits scored a combined 105 goals, compared with 95 for Adidas and 70 for Puma.

Puma’s teams failed to progress beyond the quarterfinals, limiting the brand’s chances of challenging its two main rivals.

Under Armour, meanwhile, had the final word. Ferran Torres’ extra-time goal in Spain’s 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final was the first goal scored by a player wearing Under Armour boots at the 2026 World Cup.

Final boot manufacturer rankings:

  • Nike: 144 goals
  • Adidas: 116 goals
  • Puma: 15 goals
  • Under Armour: 1 goal
