Wrexham documentary renewed until 2029

Wrexham AFC’s documentary series “Welcome to Wrexham” has been renewed for three additional seasons, extending its run until 2029.

The show, which follows the club’s rise since its 2021 takeover by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, will continue to document the team’s progress from non-league football toward its long-term ambition of reaching the Premier League.

Originally starting when Wrexham were in the fifth tier of English football, the series has become a key part of the club’s global visibility strategy, blending sporting progress with entertainment storytelling.

The extension to an eighth season was described by the owners as unusual for the television industry, but justified by the strong impact and continued narrative growth of both the club and the production.

Sporting rise continues alongside the cameras

On the pitch, Wrexham are currently competing in the EFL Championship and are pushing for a potential playoff place as they continue their climb up the English football pyramid.

The next season of the series will begin airing in May across Disney+, Hulu, and FXX, continuing its international distribution model.

The project has become one of the most prominent examples of how modern football clubs combine sporting ambition with global media storytelling to expand their brand far beyond the pitch.
