Bodø/Glimt unveil €110m diamond-shaped stadium project

FK Bodø/Glimt has unveiled plans for a new €110 million stadium designed to redefine sports infrastructure in extreme climates.

The 10,000-seat venue will feature a distinctive diamond-shaped design and will be built using sustainable, locally sourced materials to minimize environmental impact. The project places a strong emphasis on energy efficiency and adaptation to Arctic conditions.

Located within the Arctic Circle, the fully covered stadium is designed to protect fans and players from harsh weather, including strong winds and heavy snowfall. Features will include wooden seating in the club’s signature yellow color, blending identity with durability.

The facility is being developed in collaboration with local partners, including energy company Haneseth, with a focus on environmentally responsible construction and operations.

Club CEO Frode Thomassen said the project goes beyond football, aiming to create a long-term landmark for the region and set a global example for integrating elite sports infrastructure into challenging natural environments.
