Google–USSF AI partnership brings Gemini into World Cup fan experience

US Soccer (USSF) has signed a multi-year partnership with global tech giant Google, strengthening its commercial push ahead of a packed international football cycle that includes the 2026 Men’s World Cup, the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

At the centre of the agreement is Google’s consumer AI ecosystem, Gemini. Fans will be able to use its tools to create content and interact with the game in new ways. This includes the text-to-image model Nano Banana, which allows supporters to generate visuals, and the text-to-music model Lyria, which can compose custom team anthems. Gemini will also be used to help fans understand the rules of football, analyse match performances, and even generate predictive insights.

As part of the activation, Google will also serve as the presenting partner for the US national team roster reveal and associated fan celebrations. The brand will be visible throughout the tournament, including at the US Soccer House installation in California, where current and former USMNT players will appear.

USSF senior vice-president Dan Gaiman said the partnership is aimed at deepening fan engagement beyond major tournament moments, creating a longer-term connection between supporters and the national teams.

With this deal, the United States becomes the latest addition to Google’s growing football portfolio, which already includes national teams such as Argentina, Brazil, France, and Germany, as well as Iraq and Morocco.
